Yesterday’s PS3 3.00 update brought along a slew of new features that gained the praise and scorn of the PSN community. One of the most welcome changes was the ability to download dynamic themes. Dynamic themes are gorgeous animations that move in the background on the XMB. Sony put a LittleBigPlanet dynamic theme on the PlayStation Store but it carries an unwelcome price tag of $2.99. Fortunately for us there is a way to download a  free dynamic theme based on Afrika thanks to the sleuthing of  BLPGaming.

To get this theme all you have to do is download it off the Japan PSN store. It’s relatively easy to set up a Japanese account. A quick Google or YouTube search will provide you with all the details needed to pull this off. You can then go into the store and find the theme right on the homepage. It’s one of the first items you’ll see in the right hand column. Since it’s installed on your hard drive you can use this theme in any account you may have on your console.
