The highly anticipated The Beatles: Rock Band will be getting a little help from their friends in terms of promotion. Brick-and-mortar electronics megachain Best Buy is planning a few events on September 9th, the game’s release date. Not to miss a chance for self-promotion, Best Buy will also be giving away 50 one-year memberships of their Reward Zone Premier Silver program.

Starting at 8 in the morning, 10 selected Best Buy stores in 10 cities will be giving away prizes including T-shirts and other memorabilia. Check out the store list to see the nearest participating store in your area, though you can probably guess that they’re located in major cities such as Los Angeles and New York.

The biggest prize is that customers have the chance of winning a free trip to Abbey Road. One winner from each participating store will be chosen. Winners will tour Abbey Road Studios, where The Beatles recorded their albums. Furthermore, winners will participate in a walking “Magical Mystery Tour” that includes visiting The Beatles’ “rooftop session” location; Sir Paul McCartney’s offices; the “birthplace” of Beatlemania; The Beatles coffee shop; the shooting locations of A Hard Day’s Night and Help!; the registry office where McCartney and Ringo Starr were married (uh, not to each other); and The Beatles Apple shop. The walking tour sounds kind of cheesy and touristy to me, but I guess if you’re a diehard Beatles fan then visiting these locations would be a dream come true.
