Answering the question in the title I know I’m certainly not suprised that Blizzard has delayed Starcraft II. In fact I’m actually a little releaved. Blizzard, the company behind the the #1 RTS and MMO games in the world has always been know for its delays. However after the merger with Activision, a company that’s more about the bottom line, one might start to wonder if they might start influencing Blizzards standards for the sake of saving a few bucks and release a game before it’s really ready.
Thankfully this delay just shows us that Blizzard remains Blizzard and all their future titles will continue to meet the highest standards before being released. Even though SC2 is being delayed due to BattleNet, could you imagine the outcry if players couldn’t create or join games online or worse were being disconnected mid game? Forget about the single player campaign, online is where it’s at and if that aspect of the game isn’t as polished as the game itself you have nothing.
I for one have no problem waiting until early 2010 for SC2. Blizzard has yet to disappoint and I’m sure Starcraft 2 will be well worth the wait.
