left-4-dead

Don’t get me wrong, I think Left 4 Dead is a great game, just not a game that’s worth $50 bucks.  The problem I have is that it seems like a glorified Source Mod that basically takes the basic mechanics from HL2 and creates 4 unique zombie characters and packages it as a full featured game, which it is not!  It seems like someone at Valve played the Counter Strike Zombie mod, then decided, hey lets do that.   Four maps total with zero storyline, which gives you about 5-6 hrs of single player game play, but lets face it, this game is made to be played online, so I won’t hold it against them too much.   But only 4 maps?  Common guys, 4 maps?!   All I have to say is that future released maps better be free.

Compare that to say TF2 which came in the Orange box along with HL2 episodes and probably one of the best games of 2008, Portal, which was also $50 and you’ll see the value is not the same.  TF2 is leaps above L4D by the amount of unique characters, playable maps and different game scenarios.

If this game was priced a $20 or even $30, I would have nothing bad to say about it, but charging full price for a game that was probably made over a long weekend is a little ridiculous.
